How does the Accidental damage claim process work?
When you contact us about accidental damage, we’ll first check what cover you have in place and guide you to the right place to make your claim. Here’s how it works: We check your policy cover All home insurance policies include limited accidental damage cover (for things like fixed glass and sanitary ware) Some policies also include extended accidental damage cover, either: Built into the policy, or Added as an extra We direct your claim to the right place If your home insurer already provides cover (either standard or extended accidental damage): → We will pass you to your home insurer to continue your claim If your cover is provided through One Insurance accidental damage add-on: → We will handle your claim directly from start to finish
Do I have to pay excess?
Yes. You will need to pay an excess, which is your contribution towards the claim. The amount is set by your insurer and can be found in your policy documents.
What am I covered for under my Accidental Damage cover?
This cover protects you against accidental damage to both: Contents (your belongings) – up to the sum insured and item limits in your policy Buildings (your home) – up to the sum insured All claims are subject to the excess shown in your policy schedule.
What am I not covered for under my Accidental Damage cover?
This policy does not cover: General exclusions: Wear and tear or gradual damage Mechanical or electrical breakdown Maintenance or routine repairs Damage when your home is unoccupied or unfurnished Property-related exclusions: Scratches or dents Damage to windows or door frames Items not owned by you or someone in your household Specific items not covered: Portable electronics (e.g. phones, laptops, tablets, cameras)
What are my obligations for my Accidental Damage cover?
To make a claim, you must: Have a valid and active home insurance policy Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage Protect your property where possible Provide accurate and complete information
