What am I covered for under my Motor Legal Cover?
We can help you recover uninsured losses from the at-fault party after a road traffic accident. Basic cover: up to £50,000 (including VAT) Enhanced cover: up to £125,000 (including VAT) These costs are paid directly to the solicitor Legal Advice Helpline You also have access to a legal helpline for advice on: Road traffic accidents Non-motor personal injury Contract disputes Property disputes Clinical negligence Motor-related prosecutions
What is not covered under my Motor Legal Cover?
This policy does not cover: Claims for personal injury compensation (Covered under enhanced Motor legal protection) Costs incurred before we agree to handle your claim Claims where your motor policy is cancelled, voided, or declined Claims involving fraudulent or criminal activity Claims where the responsible party cannot be identified or traced Court-related costs not covered by the policy (such as certain legal expenses or adverse costs)
Are there any restrictions on my Motor Legal Cover?
Yes. Your case must have a reasonable chance of success (at least 51% or more) Cover only applies to claims handled through UK courts If there is a conflict of interest, you can choose your own solicitor, but we may only cover costs up to the level of our appointed legal representatives.
Do I have any obligations?
Yes. To ensure your cover remains valid, you must: Report your claim as soon as possible (within 180 days of the incident) Provide accurate and complete information Cooperate with us and provide any requested documents Get our approval before incurring legal costs Keep your motor insurance policy active at the time of your claim You may be responsible for costs if you begin or withdraw from legal action without our agreement.
